2024

The George Institute launches a new strategy, Roadmap 2030, centring impact, equity and resilience to achieve our mission of improving the health of millions of people worldwide

2023

Professor Anushka Patel is appointed Chief Executive Officer of The George Institute, replacing the Institute’s Founding Principal Directors

2022

The George Institute begins a new collaboration with Imperial College London in the UK, and announces the sale of its clinical research organisation George Clinical

2019

The George Institute celebrates 20 years of driving global impact, and begins a new collaboration with Manipal Academy of Higher Education in India

2018

The George Institute is ranked the top independent research institute in Australia by the British publication Times Higher Education

2017

The George Institute Australia enters into a strategic partnership with the University of New South Wales (UNSW) in Sydney

2014

The George Institute establishes George Health as its umbrella commercial enterprise, focusing on late-stage clinical development of medicines and technologies

2013

The George Institute India’s national office is established in New Delhi, while The George Institute UK establishes an office at the University of Oxford

2012

The George Institute China signs a Memorandum of Understanding with Peking University Health Science Center (subsequently renewed in 2017)

2011

The George Institute is ranked among the top 10 research institutions in the world for scientific impact for the first time by European agency SCImago

2007

The George Institute China is officially established in Beijing, while The George Institute India is formally established in Hyderabad

2005

The George Institute centralises its clinical trials operations, which later evolve formally into a commercial entity, George Clinical

2004

The China-Australia Partnership for Health is established in collaboration with Peking University Health Science Center; the Institute also establishes a London office

2002

The Andhra Pradesh Rural Health Initiative is established in partnership with the Centre for Chronic Disease Control in New Delhi, India

1999

The George Institute is founded in Australia with the support of the University of Sydney Medical School, to reduce the escalating burden of chronic disease and injury
